I simply don't know.....
Urgh, I'm such a noob. Does anyone know if I could actually play a downloaded PSP on my PS3? I do not own a PSP, however, that system does have some really sweet PSN games I would like to play. I mean, if I download Tactics Ogre: Let is Cling Together, could I actually play it on my PS3?

Anyone Rifting?
So the Rift Headstart launches tomorrow morning and I wasn't sure if anyone was playing or not.

However the reason I am posting is to let you know of two GLBT guilds in the game.

For casual/mellow crowd: praxisguild.com They are rolling on a PvE-RP server (Faeblight) and are keeping things small and personal.

If you want something bigger and more focused on end game/vent/etc: theprismaticorder.com may be the place for you. They are rolling on a vanilla PvE server (Byriel).

I will be rolling on Faeblight personally, but reserving names on Byriel just in case.

Haven't seen anyone mention the game or any movements towards guilding or grouping. The game is rocking (imho). Worth taking a look at if you MMO (yes, there is a monthly fee).

More retro editorial supplement goodness
[x-posted to gaymers & randompictures]
Click hotlinks below for related posts.

Who here remembers video game magazines with awesome editorial supplements? I do! I used to subscribe to EGM from the mid-1990s to right before Ziff Davis went bankrupt. From time to time, EGM would also throw in a condensed game guide for a popular game. The pictures below are an editorial supplement for the game The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask for the N64. Just so you all know, I own the hologram edition of that game. Jealous? I thought so!

From the Video Game Past.

Who here remembers video game magazines with awesome editorial suppliments? I do! I used to subscribe to EGM from the mid-1990s to right before Ziff Davis went bankrupt. For a time it was the place gamer nerds got their game information. Of course, that era died out with the inception of ubiquitous internet. But oh well. It was still an awesome mag.

Sonic the Hedgehog: Ep 1
Hello, fellow gaymers. I wanted to let you know that right now there is a sale on Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode 1 for the XBox360 XBLA and PSN. Originally, I thought the game just came down in price to $9.99 from $14.99, but that is just the sale price. If any of you were interested in buying that game, now is the time since, I think, the sale ends today.

So far I only played the first level of Zone 1. (I downloaded it late last night.) I am really enjoying the game, however, Sonic doesn't move the way he used to in the Genesis versions. He looses his momentum really quickly. Just so you know, the graphics are pretty damn good. I (still) play on a SDTV, but yet the detail is really crisp. For you PSN+ users, I think you can rent this game. Give it a try. I think you all might like it.

Fan-made "ultra-realistic" FPS video
This video is actually pretty damn sweet. I like the fact that pulls inspiration from old and new games -- just listen for the N64 GoldenEye near-death heavy damage sound effect.

Starcraft 2 Follow-up
Responding to a comment in the previous SC2 thread made me realize that I should probably mention my character name and code.

Me: Howl - 745
My boyfriend: Paprika - 295

Either of us would be more than happy to chat or play, though if you want a decent match-up, go with him. Personally I'm petitioning for a league before bronze... possibly styrofoam league.

Also a small plug for a blog he started RE: being a Starcraft noob: Bronze Age Tactics

Others are of course welcome to share their character names and numbers here too!

Starcraft II?
Anyone playing Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty?

The boyfriend and I decided to pick it up this week, and it's been pretty fun. I like that the battlenet ladder/league system makes it so that you play against people of your own skill level--which is helpful because my skill level is non-existent.

I had never played SC before, and I generally prefer turn-based to RTS, so it's been a learning experience. Mostly I've just been playing against the AI or on empty maps, but I'm working my way towards the campaign. The bf, on the other hand, has taken to it like a duck to water... playing online, advancing up the ladders, watching all kinds of commentary.

Also, it did come with some free 10-day trial codes if anyone wants to give the game a shot without paying the hefty $60 price tag. Just leave a comment.

I start writing an essay about the X-men, and end up with... this.
I figured this might be an appropriate place to post this, although there's not too many posts about RPGs...

Mary McGlynn *Still* working with Yamaoka

Super hottie and very talented singer/voice actress, Mary McGlynn, has posted on her Facebook that she will be working with Yamaoka on his new title that we know next to nothing about.

This news is basically, a blessing to all horro game fans, especially those who felt a little butthurt when it was announced, last year that Yamaoka was leaving the Silent Hill franchise and Konami all together. It basically means There is a game being created right now, somewhere out there, with Akira as the lead designer, not just maker of creepy music, AND Mary McGlynn's vocals. So maybe we can have an original scary game experience soon and not more terrible SH games.

What should I buy?
Besides the Orange Box...which isn't on sale!

Right now Steam is having a 4th of July sale, and it looks like there are some good deals. I feel the need to burn some money, but I don't know what to buy through Steam. I like FPSs, strategy games, and RPGs. What do you all suggest?

Post-It Mario is Web hit

This stop-motion video -- produced by Japanese students for a cultural festival -- uses an unfeasible quantity of sticky notes to recreate a sequence that'll be familiar to anyone who's played Super Mario Bros. In it, a paper Mario (no, not that Paper Mario) navigates a classroom, a stairwell, a library, and what appears to be some kind of sickbay, clobbering koopas, collecting coins, and generally having the Mario equivalent of a rollicking good time.

The video apparently took two weeks of production, and cost the equivalent of about $50. Now it's racking up hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube. We'd say that's worth an A
